Hystory
The Forellensee has a colorful past.
LAKE THANKS TO THE ERLENBACH-ZWEISIMMEN RAILWAY
The Forellensee (Trout Lake) was artificially created as part of the railway construction around 1900. For the railway, a gravel route had to be created. The material for this was found at the present location of the Forellensee and cleared by hand from 1896-1900. This resulted in a pit up to 2.8 m deep. Small springs were also found during the excavation. A so-called "monk," or level control, was built to dam a lake, which is discharged via the Alt Simeruns today [along the cantonal road].
PRIVATE LAKE THANKS TO NOTARY
The notary "Akeret" then parceled out the newly created lake, which has been privately owned ever since.
Around 1940, Ernst Glauser bought the lake, and a first heyday began in the sixties with the Dancing Forellensee. In the mid-1990s, the party was over and the Forellensee went under.
fRESH START THANKS TO BANKRUPTCY
After the bankruptcy of a financial juggler, Daniel Müller acquired the Forellensee. The fresh start began on February 2, 2013 under the culinary direction of Ruth Wedekind - initially as SeeBar. The Forellensee developed into a travel destination. With the expansion to THE WEDDING LOCATION in the Bernese Oberland, we achieved the final step into the future.
